Virgental – the Eldorado for cross-country skiers

The Virgental valley has 21 km of perfectly groomed cross-country skiing trails. From Virgen to Niedermauern, the network of trails allows you to follow different routes – alongside the stream, through forests and across meadows — always in sight of some of the highest peaks of East Tyrol.

Deep snowy forests, exercise in healthy mountain air, perfectly-groomed trails – suitable for both the skate and classic skiing styles.

Isloipe: 8 km, easy (classic)

Feldflurloipe: 8 km, medium (skating)
Sports trail: 5 km, difficult FIS homologated (skating and classic)

Access to the trail is only about 10 minutes' walk from the Mesnerhof.

Enjoy a car-free holiday!

  • Both accommodation buildings, the Mesnerhof and the Apartment "Im Mesle", are your ideal starting-off points for wonderful hikes or delightful alpine tours in the National Park region Hohe Tauern.
  • Various shops, restaurants, bakeries, and cafes are easily accessible within a 5-minute walk.
  • The hikers' bus is approximately 100 metres from the Mesnerhof. During winter, the ski bus takes you to the Großglockner Kals Matrei ski resort free of charge.
  • The sports- and leisure centre Virgen with a swimming pool and tennis courts is situated close to the Mesnerhof.
