Near to the Mesnerhof, you will find a beginner’s lift, the Fellachlift, which is suitable mainly for children and beginners. You can also race down the slope on a toboggan and, if you are feeling lazy, let the T-bar lift drag you back up to the top. There are also beautiful winter hiking trails all around us that lead through our unspoiled countryside.
Winter hiking tips
The Virgental valley has 21 km of perfectly groomed cross-country skiing trails. From Virgen to Niedermauern, the network of trails allows you to follow different routes – alongside the stream, through forests and across meadows — always in sight of some of the highest peaks of East Tyrol.
Deep snowy forests, exercise in healthy mountain air, perfectly-groomed trails – suitable for both the skate and classic skiing styles.
Take the free ski bus to the valley station just 7 kilometres away and enjoy 41.6 kilometres of slopes without queues.
Tracks in the snow – in the wintery Virgen Valley Untouched and snowy winter landscapes, loose powder, peace and solitude await snowshoers who tour through the Hohe Tauern National Park, guided by the expert national park rangers.
Enjoy the pristine countryside, far away from any kind of technology, on a ski tour. Of course, certain rules have to be observed. The correct choice of route, the right time of day, knowledge of weather conditions and snow composition, as well as how to behave out in the mountains are all indispensable basic skills that you should bring with you.
